I see good people losing themselves to this job every day. Leaders who care deeply, work late, and still go home wondering if they have done enough. They are holding it all together for everyone else and slowly falling apart themselves.

In practice, I see it all the time. Great leaders trying to support their teams while firefighting staff shortages, endless change, and growing pressure from above. The focus across the profession is still on clinical performance and output, but no one is teaching leaders how to protect their own energy or build the self-awareness that makes leadership sustainable.

As a Practice Director for White Cross Vets, I understand both sides of it. I have led teams through the same challenges. I have seen how quickly talented, compassionate people lose confidence, clarity, and joy when they do not have space to look after themselves too.

With a degree in psychotherapy, accreditation as a coach and mentor and years of leadership experience, I know that professional growth means nothing without personal growth. When you lead from exhaustion, everyone feels it. When you lead from self-awareness, everyone benefits.
